Advancing Brain Cancer Research Through Collaboration
Net4Brain is dedicated to fostering innovation, building capacity, and creating a unified European network to combat brain cancer.
About Net4Brain
It is estimated that 3.24 million new cancer cases and 1.66 million cancer deaths will be registered across Europe in 2024, with 40,800 of these deaths from brain and central nervous system (CNS) cancers.
Despite significant challenges in early diagnosis, prognosis, and patient stratification, there are significant opportunities for innovation through conventional and novel treatments. To date, the influence of this devastating disease is not fully understood, nor are the mechanisms of brain cancer fully elucidated.
Net4Brain aims to significantly facilitate the translation of fundamental scientific discoveries into clinical treatment and management of patients suffering from brain cancer through continuous efforts and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Aims & Missions
Our strategic objectives for transforming brain cancer research across Europe
Build a Unified European Network
To build a unique pan-European and multidisciplinary network on brain cancer by combining the state-of-the-art of innovative techniques.
- •Promote education and training in advanced neuroscience and neuro-imaging
- •Advance genetics and molecular biology for brain cancer research
Integrate Pan-European Brain Cancer Data
To build an integrated pan-European brain cancer database and biobank platform for the benefit of the research and clinical community.
- •Identify and validate novel cost-invasive biomarkers
- •Design advanced preclinical models for pathogenesis research
Set Up Multidisciplinary Research Network
To set up a unique multidisciplinary transnational comprehensive research network bringing together a strong consortium of experts.
- •Develop new approaches for cancer patient stratification
- •Focus on single-cell technology and AI optimization
Bridge Research & Clinical Practice
To act as a bridge between research and stakeholders from key international organizations, patient organizations, and the general public.
- •Develop therapeutic optimization and recommendations
- •Improve brain cancer diagnosis, treatment, and awareness
Objectives: Research Coordination
Our comprehensive approach to coordinating brain cancer research across Europe, fostering collaboration and innovation.

Identify and Validate Biomarkers
To identify and validate novel cost-invasive biomarkers for early diagnosis, prognosis, and recurrence of brain cancer.
Design Advanced Preclinical Models
To design advanced preclinical models to reveal the pathogenesis of brain cancer. This Action aims at a 3-Tier approach: in vitro, in vivo, and in silico models.
Develop New Approaches
To develop new approaches for cancer patient stratification focusing on single-cell technology, AI optimization, and novel treatment strategies.
Integrate Data Platforms
To recognize the interactions among experts in multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary fields, establish and assess novel data integration approaches for IVT optimization.
Therapeutic Optimization
To develop therapeutic optimization and recommendations in establishing. Most experts in WGs will effectively improve brain cancer diagnosis, treatment, and awareness.
Develop Novel Methods
To develop novel methods for research dissemination and exploitation in broadcast the Action goals and outcomes to stakeholders, including other COST Actions and the general public.
Pan-European Network
To set up a pan-European network helping to translate basic research outcomes acquired through the Action into clinical practice by translating the Action's annual groups into Panels.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
To strengthen the interactions among experts in multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary fields, establish and assess novel data integration approaches for IVT optimization.
Therapeutic Recommendations
To develop therapeutic optimization and recommendations in establishing. Most experts in WGs will effectively improve brain cancer diagnosis, treatment, and awareness.
Research Dissemination
To develop novel methods for research dissemination and exploitation in broadcast the Action goals and outcomes to stakeholders, including other COST Actions and the general public.
Objectives: Capacity Building
Building expertise and fostering the next generation of brain cancer researchers through training and collaboration.
